Programme Overview

Beyond simple observation and recording, the modern landscape painting can be derived from new media sources such as photographic or digital. The class has a particular emphasis on composition as a function of painting. Other studies include the use of restricted palettes, texture, the fleeting nature of light and eventual presentation. Students will be encouraged to make direct bold work on location which can be inspiration for other work back in the studio. Location work around the city of Glasgow will be weather permitting. This is an ideal class for beginners and those wishing to extend their existing practices.
