Programme Overview

This course will focus on developing oil painting skills for beginners as well as advanced artists. Observational work will be explored through (weather permitting) urban plein air studies or still life in the studio.   Placement, mark making, tone, colour and atmosphere will be used to create personalised as well as completed imagery. The properties of oil paint and the immediacy of ala prima work shall be embraced, as well as layering being explored. These approaches will help to create a unique style.  We will discuss how oils have been used by artists over time. NB – This is a 4 day course (Tues-Fri)
