The Technical Support Department (TSD) incorporates all technical staff and resources across GSA. Our aim is to provide safe, student focused facilities supporting specialist areas of study while also encouraging cross-disciplinary interaction where appropriate. 

Through the COVID period many students have been forced to fundamentally reconsider the scale and materials in which they work. Technical staff have supported this by redesigning key workshop processes so they can be completed safely in a home or studio environment (with supporting video and text material.

These materials are available to GSA students on Canvas here and here. Students can log in to Canvas using their GSA email address and password.

We have provided materials and services to enable projects to be completed in alternative ways, and throughout supported students through online consultations where scale, materials, cost etc. are discussed in detail and a wide range of materials are available to support a range of approaches. Where materials are supplied they are at cost price (+ wastage). 

In the last 5 years we have completely revised all flat workshop fees, removing them everywhere by 2020 and please also review our Indicative Additional Costs for more information on all the additional costs of study at the GSA.
