Payment of Fees

Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) funded students
Students must apply for funding from SAAS for each year of study. Applications open in April each year. If your application for funding is successful, SAAS will send you an award letter in the post, which you are advised to keep in an accessible place as the GSA may need to see it. In order to be enrolled, you must have received this award letter.

Student Finance England (SFE) and Student Loan Company (SLC) funded students
Students must apply for funding from SFE/SLC for each year of study. Applications open in April each year. If your application for funding is successful, SFE/SLC will send you an award letter in the post, which you are advised to keep in an accessible place as the GSA may need to see it. In order to be enrolled, you must have received this award letter.

Self-funded students (Home/RUK/EU/EEA/International)
Tuition fees are payable in three equal instalments each year – at enrolment, then in January and April. At least one third of tuition fees must be paid in order to enrol onto your programme.
We can offer monthly instalments from September to April if this is more suitable for you, but this requires a payment agreement. We will send out reminders by email when payment is due, but we do not issue statements or invoices unless requested.

Company/sponsor funded students
If your sponsor or company would prefer to pay fees directly to the GSA, this can be arranged.  We ask that an official letter or purchase order from your company be forwarded to us, and we will enrol you on the basis of this. Invoices will be issued to the relevant sponsor or company within two weeks of enrolment.

US Loans funded students
If your tuition fees are funded by a US Loan, your first point of contact is the GSA’s Student Welfare Office. Student Welfare will advise Finance which students are receiving US Loan funding. Finance will then enrol the student on this basis.

Contact the Student Welfare Service on +44 (0) 141 353 4509 or +44 (0) 141 566 1138 or email welfare@gsa.ac.uk

Total Cost of Study

The total cost of studying will depend on factors including your fee status, programme of study, accommodation arrangements and lifestyle. We understand however that to plan your life at university or art school, it is really important that you have a good idea of how much studying at the GSA is likely to cost and what kinds of costs you are likely to incur over and above fees. Our Total Cost of Study 2023/24 has been produced to help you plan for some of the costs that you may need to think about.

Each of our programmes cost the amount of additional costs associated with your programme and year of study. You can also see indicative costs associated with your specific programme of study on its programme page on this website.
