biography

Simon Weins is a computer musician and sound artist with a background in sculpture and installation art. He is currently working as a sound technician at SIT and teaches classes on sound design, digital synthesis, interactive audio and audio-visual practices across different departments. He is one half of experimental music duo soft tissue and the founder of Network Music Glasgow, an informal research group and computer music band that investigates the possibilities of improvising and collaborating through wifi networks. His solo and collaborative work has been presented at Counterflows (UK), editions Festival (SWE), Meakusma (BE), EYE Film Museum (NL), Cafe OTO (UK), Bonnefanntenmuseum (NL) and Listen Festival (BE) among others.

Research interests

Interactive audio, algorithmic composition, digital synthesis, psychoacoustics, spatialisation, digital signal processing, electroacoustic composition, audio-visual performance practices, sound art.
