Thomas Greenough graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 1993 (Fine Art), returning as a member of staff in 2013. As Head of International Academic Development, he leads GSA’s international academic partnerships, collaborative provision, student and staff mobility, and internationalisation strategy, developing opportunities for teaching, research and knowledge exchange across Europe, Asia and beyond. Thomas co-founded ELIA’s Platform for Internationalisation in Education (PIE), serving on its Steering Group for eight years, and remains involved in its Knowledge Group. He also serves on the Steering Group of UAx, supporting collaboration with Ukrainian higher arts education. A former Visiting Professor at Jilin College of the Arts, China, Thomas has extensive experience in academic quality assurance, including serving as Chief External Examiner for SAE Institute and external examining at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. His interests include internationalisation of the curriculum, transnational education and collaborative creative practice. Thomas lives in the Scottish Borders with artist Michelle de Bruin.
